General Purpose
This position is responsible for reviewing credit data to evaluate commercial loan requests in order to approve or deny applications. This position is responsible for analyzing sources of financial information, such as financial statements, credit bureau reports and cash flows to determine potential risk and profitability of loan. This position is responsible for preparing reports in response to new and additional credit proposals for loan officers and committees.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Knowledge of financial documents including but not limited to the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash flows and US Tax Returns.
- Analyze applicant’s financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting a loan.
- Provide accurate credit analysis through the analysis spreading software which will allow the lender and or committee to effectively understand the borrower’s financial condition.
- Incorporate thorough and accurate commentary regarding the key risk areas or major changes that affect the financial stability of the borrowers and potential risk to the bank.
- Thorough understanding of financial accounting and analysis of commercial loan packages.
- Use financial documents and credit information to determine customer cash flow.
- Ability to thoroughly analyze credits on and independent basis.
- Generate financial ratios to evaluate customers’ financial condition.
- Complete credit presentations, including analyses and summaries of loan requests.
- Study economic trends of a firm(s) or individual(s) branch or industry to predict probable success of a new customer or the future success of an existing customer.
- Visit establishments with Lenders to determine the condition of plant equipment and compare methods of operation with accepted practices in the industry.
- Gather all data and information needed to ascertain the likelihood of repayment and develop a strategy for mitigating the risks associated with potential problems of repayment
- The ability to communicate with existing customers on documentation needed as instructed.
- Compliance with requirements of Signature Banking.
Other Duties
- Assist Lenders in maintaining credit files including updates on financial statements and exceptions.
- Prepare reports for exams.
- Provide administrative support.
- Maintain the Bank’s customer service expectations without sacrificing the integrity of the Bank
- Answer multiple line telephone and accurately take messages when necessary
- Prepare various Board reports for the loan department.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Duties
Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Moody’s Risk Analyst, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of the terms and vocabulary associated with loan documents.
- Knowledge and experience with credit reports as well as Loan to Value (LTV), Combined Loan to Value (CLTV) and debt-to-income ratios.
- Knowledge of lending compliance and regulatory requirements.
- General knowledge of all bank products and services.
- Accounting Background or minimum of 3 years of Financial Statement Analysis.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Business, Finance and Accounting or equivalent additional work experience.
- 3-5 years of experience/training as a credit analyst or commercial loan officer

Estimated Pay Range: $75,000-90,000 per year depending on geographical location, knowledge, experience, skills, and education
